The healthiar R package can be used to quantify and monetise the burden of disease attributable to environmental exposures (air pollution and noise), using different calculation pathways and input data (see visual healthiar overview below). The R package is a flexible programming resource that can be used to build a more solid basis for evidence-based policy making.
In the context of the BEST-COST project Swiss TPH will conduct online healthiar workshops on Monday 29 September 2025 (5-7 PM CET) and Wednesday 1 October 2025 (10-12 AM CET). Note that the two workshops will be identical, and that two dates & times are offered to enable participation from various time zones.
Please register for the workshops here. After you register, you will receive further information regarding the workshops in due time.
In the 2-hour workshop we will introduce the healthiar R package and its functionalities, followed by a Q&A session and a short break. After the break, participants can try out the healthiar functions in small groups in a mock case study, with the support of the package developers. Then the mock case studies are discussed and there will be time for another Q&A session.
