Case Studies

BEST-COST seeks to establish a shared approach across Europe to understand the socioeconomic cost of environmental stressors and their impact on health. The project will develop and trial methodologies to understand how they can be used at the national level in different European contexts, as well as lessons learnt to facilitate transferability.

BEST-COST will work with five identified case study countries: Norway, Belgium, France, Estonia and Portugal.

The countries were chosen based on having existing national action plans linked to European environmental policy frameworks such as the European Green Deal and the European Environment and Health Process, as well as environmental legislations like the Environmental Noise Directive and the EU Ambient Air Quality Directive.
