Cluster analysis of EQ-5D-5L value sets in European Union countries

This scientific article identifies clusters of European countries based on EuroQol (EQ-5D-5L), which measures health-related quality of life and reflects unique national health preferences shaped by cultural and social factors, offering insights for health policy and intervention strategies.

By using health preference data, it can help to improve the transferability of health policies in Europe by addressing economic, political, and healthcare system challenges.

A scoping review of multiple deprivation indices in Europe

Multiple deprivation indices (MDIs) measure community-level deprivation using various socio-economic indicators such as education level, unemployment rate, or family structure. With their growing use across Europe and the need to evaluate health impacts on vulnerable populations, this scoping review provides an overview of MDIs in the region. Insights into their construction methods will help provide guidance to researchers in developing future indices. Furthermore, due to the vast cultural and geographical diversity across European countries, developing a Europe-wide index requires careful consideration of the methodologies to be employed.

Socioeconomic inequalities in burden of disease due to traffic noise in Norway and Denmark

Background environmental noise is linked to adverse health effects, yet the Burden of Disease is not yet thoroughly explored. This study from BEST-COST partners assessed the relationship between socioeconomic status and road traffic noise exposure to estimate the associated Burden of Disease in Norway and Denmark.

Air pollution health risks of transport – the case of passenger car fleet electrification

BEST-COST researchers examined the impact of electric vehicles, finding that passenger car electrification alone is not sufficient to remove health burden of traffic, and that wider development of urban transport systems is needed to create healthy living environments.
